The American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery Conference in New Orleans

Plastic Surgeon in Indianapolis, INA study was presented by The American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery on the new facial filler from Allergan, Voluma. In studies for FDA approval, Voluma demonstrated results lasting up to two years with excellent safety. This new product will provide an excellent option for those wanting stronger cheek bones or to replace facial volume lost with aging or weight loss. Dr. Hamilton will be traveling to California in early November for training as he will be the first in Indiana and among the first in the US to be offering this new product.

Fractional lasers continued to show benefits in multiple presentations. Active FX (fractional CO2 laser) provides softening of fine lines and removal of sun damage with less downtime and risks than traditional CO2 lasers. Fall and winter are excellent times to do laser procedures as sun avoidance post treatment is critical. Active FX can be done in the office with just topical numbing cream; recovery is less than a week.

Fat repositioning blepharoplasty- Surgeons continue to emphasis the need for fat preservation in lower eyelid rejuvenation. This helps to avoid the hallowed look of traditional lower eyelid tucks. Fat repositioning can be done either through a standard external incision approach or through a transconjunctival (hidden incision) approach in patients who do not require skin removal or tightening.
