Sclerotherapy in Indianapolis, Indiana
What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is an effective non-surgical treatment for spider veins. Helping patients regain smooth, clear legs. It is a minimally invasive procedure that involves injecting a special solution, Asclera, directly into the affected veins, causing them to collapse and fade from view.
How Long is A Sclerotherapy Appointment?
Sclerotherapy sessions are typically short, often lasting about 30 minutes to an hour. This makes it a convenient option for busy individuals.
How Much Downtime is There?
Most patients can return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure. Things to avoid after treatment include:
- No hot tubs or baths for at least 2 weeks
- No swimming in ocean/lakes/pools for 1 week
- No exercise for 48 hours
- Avoid sun exposure/UV exposure for 1 month on treated areas and use 30 SPF sunscreen on the legs
Typically, the treated areas look worse than before treatment for the first two weeks. You can expect redness, a ropey appearance, darkness around the veins, and bruising during this timeframe. After two weeks, the veins will gradually start to fade over the next 4-6 weeks. Often it takes a more than one session of Sclerotherapy, and we recommend doing at least 2 or 3 treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart.
